Woman buys saucepans using wedding ceremony
A 40-year-old man who gave his wife money to be used in preparation for their wedding ceremony got a shock of his life when he learnt she had used the money to buy saucepans and other household items instead.
Robert Kasumali, a resident of Kakiri in central Uganda district of Wakiso has been cohabiting with his 27-year-old wife for the last 4 years.
Kasumali works in Kabale district in western Uganda, some 200KM away from his home. His wife Deborah Nakazzi stays at home with their child and Kasumali comes every weekend to pay them a visit.
A few months ago, the two agreed to make official their marriage by wedding in Church.
With that settled, preparations for the wedding kicked off in earnest. The man even paid Church dues and also hired a place where they would host their friends and relatives at a wedding party.
Two weeks to the wedding, Kasumali gave his soon to be married wife UGsh 5million to be used to cater for her make up, paying for food for the wedding party and hiring of music system.
Four days to the wedding, Kasumali came home to prepare himself and his wife for the wedding.
He was surprised, however, on arriving at his home and finding brand new items like a new sofa set, a new TV, many new utensils such as saucepans, cups and plates.
“I thought the new items in the home were presents from well wishers including relatives and fiends. But I was shocked when my wife told me that she had used the money I had given her to buy them.” said Kasumali while in local village court where she reported his wife.
In response, his wife Deborah Nakazzi said that for a long time she has been requesting her husband to buy saucepans and other items needed in the home but he had always said that he had no money. She added that when her husband gave her the money meant for the wedding she did not see sense for them to hold a fabulous wedding ceremony and wedding party yet after the ceremony she goes and live in poverty.
The court sided with Nakazzi and advised Kasumali to cancel the wedding ceremony until when he gets money to do it since the woman had used the money to buy items meant to improve their homes.
Grudgingly Kasumali forgave his wife and postponed the wedding for two months.
