Ugandan old men and their loathe for condoms
As some men age it seems their love for the rubber also wanes.
Sex workers in western Uganda residing in the district of Lyantonde have bitterly companied and castigated elderly civil servants who go for their services but don’t want to use condoms.
During a workshop organized for sex workers by the ministry of health in Lyantonde town, the escorts said they have a hard time convincing elderly civil servants and civilians to use condoms.
Old men and endangering young lives
The chairperson of sex workers in Lyantonde, Rose Nakabugo was especially vocal when she stood to to give her contribution.
”We the Neko in Masaka are ever careful with our health. We ensure that we always use condoms but elderly public servants who buy our services seem not to care. They do not want to use condoms.” Nakabugo said.
So adamant are the elderly men in not using condoms during sex that they sometimes try to force the sex workers to have unprotected sex with them and they end up fighting.

Sex without condom? Over my dead body
The chairperson added that weak sex workers who cannot defend themselves against the reckless civil servants end up being fucked without condoms which results in some of them getting infected with HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.
”I do not entertain such nonsense I have beaten up several elderly men who attempted to force me into sex without condoms. I can not risk my life.” said Nakabugo.
There’s enough condoms for everyone
Nakabugo said she goes out of her way to ensure all sex workers in Lyantode district have enough condoms therefore it was ironical that the some men didn’t want to use condoms when buying sex.
Old man opens up why they hate condoms
An elderly man who sought anonymity came clean and confessed that he has in the past slept with escorts without a condom and said circumstances forces them.
”When we grow old erection becomes a problem so when I get an erection and i try to fix a condom on my manhood the erection ceases that is why I don’t use condoms,”
HIV/AIDS load in Uganda
As of 2018, an estimated 1.4 million people were living with HIV, and an estimated 23,000 Ugandans died of AIDS-related illnesses.
The virus is firmly established in the general population with sex workers, young girls and adolescent women, men who have sex with men (MSM), drug users and people from Uganda’s transient fishing communities being the most affected.
