The longer it is the sweeter the sex: Meet Ugandan women crazy about elongating their labia minora
Welcome to the ‘pearl of Africa’ where men and women are crazy about sex; not just any sex but long, stimulating, and elongated sex that guarantees the woman squirts (Kachabali) and the man cums.
This is made possible by a unique traditional practice that has been in existence for centuries famously called Okukyalira ensiko which literally translates to ‘going to the bush.’
In parts of Central and Southern Uganda and Rwanda, ‘pulling,’ as the practice is commonly known is cherished by both men and women. The practice involves the elongation of the labia majora and minora, or the ‘lips’ in layman’s language in women and girls. According to culture purists, this practice was traditionally initiated to barricade rapists and protect young girls from being defiled and assaulted at a very early age especially among the Bahima clan.
It was also emphasized as an act of hygiene since it created an enclosure on the Vagina. Women who have gone through the process also claim labia elongation helps in keeping the genital parts moist and warm.
In other Ugandan and Rwandan societies, it is purely done to optimise sexual pleasure and is done by Ssengas (paternal aunts) or any older woman.
The Ssengas reportedly use three fingers to pull each of the lips downwards for several weeks. Those past their teenage years have to do it for over a month. The process is aided by traditional herbs that serve as catalysts.
The process is not a child’s play and involves a lot of pain and sourness. During sex, the larger elongated lips are known to make sex more pleasurable. It is especially handy during oral sex and a popular sexual practice known as Kachabali where a woman rubs and massage her clit until she cums.
While this practice among the Baganda and many other tribes has been in existence for Centuries it is at risk of getting lost forever. As more and more Ugandans get modernized and drop their African cultures ‘Okukyalira ensiko’ is no longer looked at as prestigious as it was once because both men and women don’t seem to understand the clear value it adds on sex and sexuality education.
On 5th Feb 2020, the Ugandan Minister of Gender and Culture, Ms. Peace Mutuzo imposed a ban on Okukyalira ensiko splitting Ugandans for and against the practice.
