From Romance to Robbery: Ugandan Men Speak Out on Unpleasant Encounters with Sex Workers

Over ten men have reported cases of being robbed of their money by people who connive with sex workers in Kampala.

The bad habit is common in Makindye , a suburb of Uganda’s capital of Kampala, about 5 km from the city center.

According to Anthony Opila, a criminal investigations department officer at Makindye police station, among some of those complaining are foreigners.

He said that the sex workers connive with wrong elements who hide under the beds on which they take men to be fucked in the numerous brothels in the area.

The rooms in the brothels are are usually dark since most of them are built with no windows.

On removing the clothes the sex workers ensure that the men going to fuck them place their clothes especially the trousers in places where those under the bed can get access to them.

As the fucking goes on the men under the bed get the money from the trousers of the men.They tactfully remove the money from money purses or the pockets as the women being fucked ensure that those fucking do not see what takes place .

Since the men pay before fucking takes place,after the act they simply wear their trousers and hurriedly move out.They usually discover that their money has bee stolen when a distance away .

The CID officer said that although at times they arrest those involved,but in most cases it is not easy to identify them because the sex workers involved usually from one brothel to another.
