Sex services will be temporarily halted in Mukono district in central Uganda for close to a week.

On Wednesday, Sex workers operating from Kyabakadde trading center announced to all and sundry that  they will be downing their tools for 5 days in honour of the Archbishop of Kampala Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.

Meet Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga the son of the soil

Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga died last Saturday at his residence at Rubaga in Kampala. He was born in Kyabakadde and was of its famous sons. His death engulfed the residents of  Kyabakadde in deep sorrow. His body was transported back to his birthplace for viewing. He was buried inside Rubaga Cathedral on Thursday.

Viola Namagala, the leader of the sex workers in Kyabakadde and its surrounding areas, said the death of Archbishop Lwanga had affected them deeply

” Most of the people here are Catholics. They are all concerned about the death of Archbishop Lwanga who was born in this place .They are all mourning .They are not going to work in their gardens. So we have to sympathize with them and we will not be working as usual to show our respect.” Namagala said.

Their decision has been welcomed by the residents of the area.

”They are mourning with us, that is a good gesture. We thank them for being with such an attitude.” said Mathew Kawakala a Catholic leader in the area.
