President Museveni’s Daughter Finally Speaks About Divorce Allegations
President Yoweri Museveni’s daughter, Diana Museveni has announced the dissolution of her 18-year marriage with businessman Geoffrey Kamuntu. Kyaremera addressed the public concerning the situation for her children’s sake asserting, “I have tried to keep my divorce private and out of the public sphere for the sake of my children.”
Diana presented the “Decree Nisi,” and confirmed the legal termination of her marriage in 2022 expressing the difficulty of divorce with the children involved. In 2022 she applied to NIRA to change her name from “Kamuntu” to “Diana Museveni Kyaremera”
Diana went on to appeal for public support during this hard time, saying, “I ask that the public continues to pray for my family as we move forward from this difficult time and that you will respect our privacy.”
Diana met Kamuntu at her sister Natasha’s house and fell in love immediately. The duo got married on July 24, 2004, and they bore three children one girl and two boys.
This development follows President Museveni’s recent Women’s Day Speech, where he discussed paying dowry for all his daughters to address gender-based violence and promote socioeconomic transformation.
The Ugandan Head of State has daughters namely Patience, Diana and Natasha. He mentioned moving away from the practice of asking for a bride’s price and stressed the significance of families adopting positive marriage practices.
According to Pulse Uganda, Museveni shared a conversation with one of the president’s ministers who came to his wedding where the refusal to accept the bride price from a man was observed.
At this particular wedding, the bride’s family decided not to accept the bridegroom’s gifts instead they requested the groom’s family to decide the number of cows they wanted.
In the end, the groom’s family left with 90 cows Museveni explained, “The groom’s family couldn’t believe it, but that is what happens when families move out of poverty,”
The President’s wife previously shared that her daughters got married as virgins, after signing “true love waits” cards and abstaining from sexual activities until their wedding nights.
