Miraa (Khat) Boosts Sex Drive in Men
Meru Leaders Want Miraa (Khat) Removed From List of Drugs by NACADA Noting it Boosts Sex Drive in Men
According to prominent leaders from the Meru County in Kenya have called on the National Campaign Against Drug Abuse (Nacada) to remove Miraa from the List of drugs as it boosts sex drive in men.
If the words of Meru Senator and Deputy Senate Speaker, Kathuri Murungi, along with former Igembe North MPs Joseph Eruaki and Joseph Mutuuria are anything to go by, then Miraa could be the solution men suffering from Erectile Dysfunction have been searching for.
The comments come after Nacada’s recent classification of Khat as the third most abused substance in the country. The classification has been seen by many in miraa-growing areas as oppressive. Murungi boldy affirmed that Khat is benefical to sex pointing out that it could be the main reason behind the high population in the region. He added, Murungi proudly stated, “I chew miraa and I have fathered intelligent boys! If you examine the population of Meru, you will notice that Igembe Central has the largest population. Igembe North, Igembe South, Tigania East, and Tigania West also have significant numbers of people.”
Murungi asserted during a speech at Maua, a significant miraa commerce hub, that Khat is a substance known for increasing libido, citing the dense population in miraa-growing regions as proof. In order to disprove the notion that miraa intake results in infertility, he extended an invitation to the chairman and CEO of Nacada to travel to Meru and observe the effects of miraa consumption firsthand.
Other than it’s bedminton value, khat/miraa in Kenya is a major source of revenue for the region. The senator vowed to spearhead the amendment of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act, which is believed to hinder exports and investments in the miraa sub-sector, according to various stakeholders.
