Sex workers in Kampala are now offering sex against trees, walls
Sex workers in Kikubamutwe trading center, at the outskirts of Kampala city, are currently serving their customers against trees, perimeter walls, and inside unfinished buildings.
This comes after the city council authority closed all the buildings that used to serve as cheap lodges due to the COVID19 epidemic.
Price of sex drops to UGX 5,000
”We were left with no alternative other than doing it against walls, trees, and inside unfinished buildings. Most of our customers are low-income earners and do not mind because we have even cut down our price by half,” said Enid Kaleya, a 20-year-old sex worker.
She added that before the lock down, they used to charge 10,000 shillings (equivalent to 2.5 USD) per round but now they ask for 5000 shillings (slightly less 1.5 US dollars) per round.
Exhausted all her savings
Margret Nambuya, another sister in the trade said when the joints they were operating from were closed down, she moved back to her village in Mbale which about 200 km for the city.
”Within a short period, I exhausted all the money and had to come back and work,” said Nambuya.
She said that on coming back she found some of her colleagues doing it in funny places but since the men did not mind she also followed suit.
