Sex in Nollywood

Nollywood actor and movie producer, Yomi Fabiyi, is being accused for demanding sexual favours in return for movie roles.

The movie producer is being accused by Bimpe Oyebade fondly known as Mo Bimpe that he wanted to sleep with her.

Earlier in June, a fan of the actress asked why she isn’t on good terms with Yomi Fabiyi opening a can of worms.

The fan  went ahead and posed, “Is it true that you and Yomi dey fight because of sex for role?”(sic)

To which Mo Bimpe replied: “NO! In fact, he didn’t ask me out till we finished his movie I featured in (though he said if he knew I was going to turn him down, he would have done that before shooting the movie). We don’t relate because he insisted on either dating me or being enemies and I had to choose.” (sic).

Reacting to claims made by Mo Bimpe, Fabiyi, came out guns blazing and accused the actress of making defamatory comments about him in spite of his good intentions.

He wrote; “I am an adult and it is within my rights to be sexually attracted to any adult provided no force or coercion was involved. I AM NOT A COUSIN TO JESUS CHRIST, I have rights to sexual feelings provided it is within the ambits of the law. You guys need to stop misleading folks on social media. Know the difference between ASKING SOMEONE OUT and SEXUAL HARRASSMENT. It is one thing to think someone is a flirt and it is another to attach that to crime, common, get sense, MOVE ON,” an excerpt of the letter reads.

Meanwhile, popular Nigerian skit skit maker and comedian, Debo Adedayo, known as Mr Macaroni, has added his voice in the saga and said that allegations of sex for roles should be investigated and appropriate sanctions meted on culprits.

“Absolutely disgusting, absolutely abominable act, I’ve always spoken against it, even before I attained this position being a public figure.

I have kicked against it, I have series of tweets against it, I have lots of content to speak against it, it is highly disrespectful and highly degrading, it reeks of how much we have lost touch with humanity.”  Mr Macaroni told News Agency of  Nigeria.

Mr. Macaroni, who is best known for his Instagram comedy videos, where he plays the role of a “sugar daddy” added that;

“People should get roles and jobs based on competence, based on the fact that they are able to deliver.

How many people will you sleep with?” said the Nigerian actor known for the phrases “Ooin” and “You are doing well”.
