Abomination! Girls as young as 15yrs are turning to sex work in city of Mbarara
Teenage girls turn Sex workers
Girls as young as 15 years old are dropping their school uniforms and donning skimpy dresses before turning to sex work in droves in the city of Mbarara in western Uganda.
A good number of the girls are reportedly working in bars as waitresses servicing grown up men and get serviced in the process.
Alarmed residents and leaders in the area have come out to complain about the vice which they say has been brought about by COVID-19 pandemic. Ugenda went on lock down in a bid to contain the deadly virus leading to schools closing leaving young girls with plenty of time in their hands and idle.
”It is terrible! Young girls are being fucked by grown up men fit to be their fathers and even grand fathers. The government should open up schools as quickly as they can so that school girls can go back to school and stop selling themselves.” said Simon Kakwikire, a local leader in Kijungu trading centre.

The sickening story came to the surface following investigations carried out by a multimedia consulting company recently that found out many teenage girls have become bar maids as well as sex workers and it is from there that men have a field day with them after parting with money.
One 15yr-old girl, who now doubles up as a bar maid and sex worker blames Corona for her new life.
”I was a student at Mbarara secondary school but when COVID-19 hit I stopped going to school. I was convinced by a colleague to come and work as a bar maid. I also sell sex.”
The school girls are reportedly paid between UGsh5000 to UGsh20,000.
The investigations discovered that the vice is not only rampart in Mbarara city but has also spread to surrounding areas including Rubindi, Bwizibwera, Kiyanja, Kikona Ruti, Kijungu and other slums.
Leaders and activists are now calling out to the authorities to intervene before things get thick .
”We will request police to carry out an operation to get rid of teenage sex workers.” said Ken Kacebezi, the area children affairs affairs officer.
