During the murder trial against men who were accused of killing soccer star Senzo Meyiwa, the trial heard claims that Senzo had a sexual relationship with Zandie Khumalo. The attorney who represented accused no. 1 to 4 Tshepo Thobane claimed that he would call a witness who was going to testify that the goalkeeper had a relationship with Zandie.
The attorney also said that the same witness would testify that Meyiwa reportedly took out life insurance cover and that Kelly was a beneficiary.
Thobane claimed, ” I put it to you that a witness will come and testify that Kelly and Senzo took out life cover for Senzo, and Kelly was the signatory and the beneficiary thereof. Furthermore, that witness will come and testify that in the end, Senzo ended up having a relationship with Zandie as well.
He claimed that he had a sexual relationship with Zandie because Kelly had been away for a very long time. It is alleged that Kelly brought in her sister Zandie to move in with her and her partner. Senzo Meyiwa who succumbed to carnal desires asked Zandie out who agreed to the illicit affair. Advocate Thobane claimed, “A witness will testify that Kelly had brought Zandie to live with them, to guard Senzo while she was doing her music activities. I put it to you, that the same witness will come and testify that Senzo was complaining about the way Kelly was doing things, and having someone to guard him. That witness will testify that in the end, Senzo ended up having a sexual relationship with Zandie as well, with Kelly being away for a long time.”
