Underage sex: Hotel owner, wife arrested in Nigeria over child trafficking
Police rescue underaged children in Brothel
A man and his wife are cooling their heels in a police cell after being arrested over alleged child trafficking and underage sex.
Nigeriaâs Delta State Police Command arrested the owner of Fagoma hotel at Aragba, Otokutu in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Edwin Etareri and his wife one Mrs Grace Etareri.
The suspects were arrested during a raid on the hotel where underaged children were allegedly trafficked and used as sex slaves. During the raid, police rescued five underaged children from the brothel.
 âInvestigations revealed that one Joy âfâ surname unknown now at large trafficked the underage girls from Rivers State, took them to Patani where they were forced into taking an oath before they were brought to Otu-Jeremi and harboured by one Edwin Etareri, the owner of the said brothel and his wife one Mrs Grace Etareri currently in custody.â police statement said.

The Delta State Police Command, led by CP Ari Muhammed Ali confirmed the report in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.
The underaged children included Happiness Johnson âfâ age 13yrs, Esther Godspower âfâ age 21yrs, Angel John âfâ age 22yrs, Miracle Bishop âfâ age 19yrs and Happiness Isreal âfâ 19yrs, according to local media reports in Nigeria.
âTen other male suspects and ten female suspected prostitutes were also arrested during the raid.â
Nigeria is notorious for sex trafficking and most victims are shipped abroad where they work as prostitutes under very harsh conditions.
Investigation is ongoing and more suspects are expected to be nabbed in the coming days.
