Odartey Lamptey Recalls Near Gunshot Experience After DNA Results of Ex-Wife’s Children
Former Ghana international Odartey Lamptey has revealed details about his infamous DNA saga with his ex-wife, Gloria Appiah. In an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah, Odartey shared that he nearly picked a gun on the realisation that their three children didn’t belong to him. He reiterated that it was only by God’s grace that he didn’t follow that path since it would have landed him in jail.
The ex-couple separated in 2013 following DNA tests that revealed that he was not the biological father of the three children he thought they sired together. His discovery led to the dissolution of their twenty-year marriage and led to a legal battle over Appiah’s compensation. Appiah went ahead to claim ownership of Odartey’s seven-bedroom house as part of their alimony but the Court of Appeal dismissed her claim.
Speaking during an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV, Lamptey recalled that he nearly pulled the trigger of his gun upon getting the DNA test results. He had a gun in his car at that time but refrained from any drastic actions after considering the consequences for his future.
He shared,” I was devastated, but I remained patient, and that has brought me to where I am today. I believe it was divine intervention that stopped me from using the gun. had to control my anger, or I could have ended up in prison. And I wouldn’t have my three children now. Sometimes, when you’re angry, you have to think twice before acting,”
