New year tradition like no other

Different people have different ways of marking and starting off the new year in style. Some believe starting the new year in places of worship will make the new year ‘behave’ and turn into a great year.

For men from Bugiri district in eastern Uganda having sex into the new year brings in good luck.

It was not surprising therefore that all the sex workers at Idudi trading centre found along Nairobi Kampala highway were completely booked  before the midnight of December 31st 2020.

Chris Opendi, a local leader at Idudi trading center who also manages one of the many brothels there said the ‘entering the new year while fucking’ tradition started a few yeas ago. Since then residents from the area whom majority hail from Basoga tribe have religiously kept the tradition.

A tradition seer started the tradition

According to Opendi, a few yeas ago some Tanzanian traditional healer came and worked in the area for some time and while there he told the men that if one wanted to be followed with good luck into a new year he should enter it while fucking a woman.

”Two men tried it and they reportedly became successful in their businesses since then most men in the trading center enter the new year while fucking,” said Opendi.

Meet the superstitious men of Idudi

A good number of men in the trading centre are not married. They usually come to the place to do casual work and engage in jobs like washing the long distance trucks which park there as the drivers fuck the many escorts who reside in the area.

As the new year approached, majority of the sex workers were booked by the truck drivers and the few remaining were quickly taken up by local men hungry for success and money in 2021.

Juma Waibale, a 35-year-old shoe shiner was one such hopeful fucker.

“I want to become rich in 2021 so that is why I entered the new year while fucking. I started fucking ten minutes into the new year and made sure i did not finish until after 25 minutes into the new year.” said Juma.
