On Thursday Kenyan police announced that they had detained six teachers in connection with a viral Kisii gay sex video showing elementary school students acting out sex as punishment in an incident that has caused much uproar.
The video showed four boys simulating sex under a tree in the schoolyard while the teachers looked on. They were dressed in their school uniforms.
According to police, the video “exposing school children in an obscene act” was shot in Nyamache, a rural community around 300 kilometers (186 miles) from Nairobi, Kenya’s capital.
According to a police record seen by AfricaNews, six teachers—five female and one male—have been detained and “are aiding in (the) investigation.
Ezekiel Machogu, the Education Minister in Kenya, said the instructors would be subject to disciplinary procedures and, if found guilty, would be fired.
A person found guilty of coercing another person into performing an indecent act in Kenya is subject to a prison sentence of at least five years.
