Nigerian Songwriter Tiwa Savage revealed a past attempt to blackmail her with a sex tape she made with someone she dated in the past. The songstress who spoke in a Power 105.1, New York radio interview revealed her determination to indulge the blackmailer.
She said, “I’m not gonna call it a sex tape. But the first thing I did was to call my manager because this person was asking for money. I’m not gonna have somebody blackmail me for doing something that is natural. For me, it’s like why now, when the music is so good, I’ve grown. Nobody wants that of them, it’s so embarrassing, like for my fans, family, and friends,”
Tiwa also acknowledged the hurt that the video would cause her fans and family but realised that it had already got into the hands of a third party so nothing could be done but live with the consequences.
One intriguing thing about Nigerians is the impression that morality begins and ends in the bedroom. In an insightful article “Nigeria, we’ve got a sexuality problem,” that dates back to 2016, Subomi Plumptre, a social media strategist disclosed that Nigeria overtakes the US for searches on pornographic content online.
Subomi asserted that in 2015 when the study was conducted,
” The number of average monthly searches by volume was 135,000 and the states with the greatest popularity for porn searches from the highest to the lowest were: Enugu, Oyo, Ogun, Rivers, Lagos, Abia and Cross River. The relative popularity of rape porn videos was also above 80, with Lagos State leading the charge. In 2014, Nigeria ranked third globally for the most Google searches for gay porn!”
In 2019, pornhub shared that it gained a 32% increase in traffic from Nigeria suggesting that more Nigerian women were embracing it. In the same year, Nigerians topped the list of searchers for videos on Big Black Women (BBW)
