What Are The Types Of Premature Ejaculation

Different people experience premature ejaculation differently. For some people, ejaculation is characterised by ejaculating earlier than their partner wishes mostly in a minute or two after penile stimulation, handjob or even masturbation. Some men may ejaculate simply by mental or visual stimulation which may be caused by talking dirty with their partners or any physical stimulation like kissing. Premature ejaculation can be classified into two:

Primary Premature Ejaculation

In this type of premature ejaculation, the affected person has experienced this problem. It happens majorly due to psychological reasons which may include abuse during childhood or a traumatic sexual experience.

Secondary Premature Ejaculation

Men experience this condition at a later stage in life. Underlying factors which may contribute to this condition are psychological including stress as well as relationship issues. Physical factors like excessive consumption of alcohol, inflammation of the prostate gland and weakened pelvic floor muscles can also contribute to secondary premature ejaculation.

Symptoms Of Premature Ejaculation

One of the most common signs of premature ejaculation is getting off prematurely which happens to a lot of men most of the time. A one-off incident however doesn’t necessarily mean that one is dealing with PE.

It can be classified as a condition that warrants medical attention if one is unable to hold or delay an erection for long and also ejaculation before or under a minute. Secondary symptoms like the decreased connection with a sex partner, intimacy issues, anxiety and also mental distress are some of the symptoms of premature ejaculation.

Treating Premature Ejaculation

Behavioural Treatment

This is a common and the most successful treatment for premature ejaculation. These include two methods which include:

. Start and stop Method

In this method, either you or your partner can stimulate the penis until you start feeling the orgasm sensation begins building up. The stimulation should be stopped for about thirty seconds to allow the sensation to disappear without causing ejaculation. Thereafter, the stimulation will begin again. This process is repeated three to four times before an orgasm happens.

. Squeeze Method

This method is also based on the principle of delaying ejaculation. In this method, either you or your partner will squeeze the head of the penis gently for thirty seconds. This method is repeated severally before an orgasm actually happens.

Pelvic floor exercises

If premature ejaculation is caused by the weakening of muscles, you may be advised exercises like Kegels to restore the ability to hold off an orgasm.

Medical Treatments

A health practitioner may prescribe medicines that will help cure the condition. Anti-depressants are proven to cure this condition. However, some may contribute to drowsiness and nausea. Dapoxetine is prescribed for the management of premature ejaculation. The topical application of anaesthetic cream is also a form of treatment as well as wearing a condom.

In conclusion, premature ejaculation can be embarrassing and distressing but in a real sense, it is a common condition with treatment. Through medication, self-control techniques and therapy, men are bound to cultivate a satisfying sexual relationship with their partners as well as learn how to manage their ejaculation. Men should not be afraid to seek help whenever they feel that PE is causing distress for them or their partners.
