HPV DNA Kit: How To Use The Evalyn Brush
Cerba Lancet Kenya has launched a kit that women can use to collect samples for Human papillomavirus (HPV) testing. Testing for the virus allows a woman to know if she is at risk of developing cervical cancer. The HPV DNA Kit helps to improve the rates of screening and speed up the treatment.
The collection kit is known as Evalyn-Brush and is designed to collect samples from the vagina. This kit is also said to be more sensitive compared to a Pap Smear Exam as it produces quicker results.
The Evalyn-Brush enables females to collect samples independently and submit them to a lab for testing. Cerba Lancet shares the steps to conduct a self-test:
1. Remove the brush from the package.
2. Press the sides of the cap to detach it from the brush. Avoid touching the brush bristles with your hands
3. Insert the Evalyn Brush up to the wings push the plunger and rotate it five times.
- Remove the Evalyn Brush carefully and replace the cap.
- Return the brush to its original package.
- Place the brush in the plastic bag that has been provided and after sealing it submit it to the laboratory.
