French Actor Gerard Depardieu Detained Over Sexual Assault Allegations
Reading Time: 2 minutesFrench actor Gerard Depardieu has been put into custody over allegations of sexual assault. BFMTV shared that the actor was summoned to a Paris police station for questioning. Gerard is being questioned over allegations that were brought by two different women who worked with him on film sets in 2014 and 2021.
The woman involved in the 2021 incident alleges that the sexual assault took place during the set of the film, The Green Shutters, which was released in 2022. The woman’s lawyer shared with BFMTV that when her client “passed through a corridor where Mr Depardieu was sitting.
He grabbed her, trapped her between his legs and touched her body up to her breasts. She felt completely powerless, incapable of escaping this trap.”

The 75-year-old actor is yet to comment on this case but previously denied the other allegations of sexual assault. In an open letter that was published last year, Gerard said, “Never, ever have I abused a woman”.
