A photo of Pope Francis kissing US Musician Madonna and cupping her breast has been verified. The picture was shared on a Facebook page and shared with several groups. Africa Check, a fact-checking organisation has confirmed that the photo was probably AI-generated.

The photo claimed Pope Francis, the world leader of the Roman Catholic Churchkissed and also grabbed US Musician Madonna’s breasts. The viral photo was captioned, “Pope Francis and Madonna exchanging greetings. Don’t panic, ni salamu tu…I think.”

The Facebook user posted the photo on their page and shared it with several groups that have thousands of followers. Several Facebook users have since reposted the photo.

The abscence of these photos on credible websites is a sign that they are artificially generated.AI (Artificial Intelligence) uses computer algorithms to create images from scratch by following simple instructions. AI generators struggle to create some parts of the body especially the fingers and hands.

The viral phooto bears some inconsistencies for instance, Madonna’s hair merges with her ear making it look unnatural as it appears without an earlobe.In the picture, the musician also looks different in a different photo that was shared by various media outlets.The Pope’s appears to have melted into Madonna’s breasts.

Media outlets reported that Pope Francis expressed optimism that those who opposed blessing same-sex marriages will come to understand his view. Accoring to him, those who opposed his views are just small ideological groups. Pope Francis reiterated that the Vatican’s directive was a sign of acceptance.
