Court Orders Wumni, Mohbad’s Wife To Do a DNA Test
A Magistrate court based in Ikorodu, Lagos has ordered Singer Mohbad’s wife, Wumni to be served notice of an opening DNA test application. According to a statement signed by Monisola Oumosu, a legal team member of the Aloba family, the order became important after the court sheriff tried to serve the court process but failed. The Aloba family filed an application before the Family Court granting an order against Wumni to present Liam for a DNA test at a laboratory in Lagos.
The legal team filed an application to Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba seeking to serve Mohba’s wife with court papers meant for the DNA by posting all the processes in the suit on the address of the respondent.
According to Odumosu, “If the process were served on the last-known address of the respondent by Order of the Court, it would constitute good service and she would be aware of the pending suit. The Chief Magistrate granted the order and ordered that the respondent be served by posting the court process on her last known address.
The statement also made it clear that Mohbad’s wife made it clear that she was ready for a DNA test adding that she had not been available for the court sheriff to serve her the motion. Odumosu claimed that the issue was adjourned till the following month for a report of service.
Taiwo Olawanle, the counsel to Wunmi denied being aware of the court order. Odumosu said, “We don’t have the court order. If we have an order, we will advise her to adhere to it. That is not a problem. But we are not aware of any order”.
Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27 under unclear circumstances. He left behind his record label labelled Marlian Music in February 2022. Mohbad’s body was exhumed for autopsy last year. In a bid to probe Mohbad’s death, the Lagos State Police command inaugurated a special investigation team.
