Anti-HIV/AIDS Crusader Asunta Wagura Welcomes Twins At 60
Asunta Wagura, a popular anti-HIV/AIDs crusader is now a mother of seven after welcoming a pair of twins at 60. Asunta shared the good news on her Facebook page saying the birth of the duo was a plot twist that she didn’t see, she wrote,
“This year, my life’s narrative took a comedic turn worthy of an Oscar—yes, at the sprightly young age of nearly 60, I’ve become a mother to twin girls! It’s a plot twist I never saw coming, and one I can hardly believe myself!”
Asunta who has lived positively with the virus for more than thirty years asserted that the birth of the pair of twins is a revolution of her soul. She added, “I never knew exactly what I was looking for until it arrived, swaddled in pink and crying out with vigorous, life-affirming wails…Who says you can’t set sail on new adventures just as you’re nearing that ‘sixth floor’ of life? I chuckle, rocking my girls to sleep,”
Wagura was diagnosed with HIV in 1998. She started the Kenyan Network of Women with Aids( Kenwa), softening the blows of stigma. Through the network, she reached out to a number of women with whom she made home visits and provided care and basic foodstuff reaching up to 10,000 people. This made Asunta a renowned anti-HIV/Aids crusader.
