Hormonal birth control pills are made for women and they are not intended for men as they may cause several side effects. Kenyan Gynecologist Grace Kanyi reveals that the long-term effects of men taking these pills are unknown since there’s a lack of research in this area.

A Kenyan woman took to social media to reveal that the way to revenge on a cheating man is to give him contraceptives regularly and watch how he changes regularly. Grace condemned such actions asserting that such actions are frowned upon.

She shared,  “It is an unethical, unacceptable and criminal offence and anyone who is found doing that should be prosecuted. We have never considered it and should not allow it, most men wouldn’t want to be playing that kind of game,”

Taking a combined pill that contains progesterone and oestrogen hormones will have mild feminising effects but it’s reversible when one stops using it. Grace explains, “Taking one or two pills might not have an effect, but consuming it over a period of time will. When a man takes birth control, his body gets a dose of estrogen and progesterone, hormones typically found in higher levels in women,”

These hormones cause changes in a man’s body including emotional changes and physical alterations.

Female hormones lead to the development of female characteristics like a decrease in body hair and breast enlargement further contributing to a feminine body shape. Grace explains,

“Overtime there will be some feminising effects like breast enlargement, softer skin reduced production of facial hair and low libido. The quality of the sperm will be affected in a man who usually has a normal sperm count,”

Grace also adds that the hormones in the birth control pills may have an effect on his sexual health and can contribute to decreased libido, erectile dysfunction and possible fertility issues.
