Yvonne Nelson Narrates How Sarkodie Impregnated Her and Refused To Accept Responsibility
Yvonne Nelson’s memoir, “I Am Not Yvonne Nelson,” has revealed details of her past escapades with Sarkodie, a Ghanaian rapper. In a chapter titled, ‘A Difficult Decision’ Yvonne narrates her personal experience of how she navigated an unexpected pregnancy and a difficult decision she had to arrive at then.
Nelson shares how she was involved in emotional turmoil when the rapper refused to take responsibility for the pregnancy. Yvonne was forced to make a difficult decision which was to terminate the pregnancy, a decision she referred to as deeply personal and challenging.
The chapter highlights some of the reproductive choices women may face and the impact some decisions had on her. It sheds more light on her emotional journey and how she arrived at a decision that was right for her based on the circumstances.

Yvonne narrates that when she confirmed that she was carrying a pregnancy, she informed Sarkodie about it. At the time, the future did not seem quite promising for the musician as he was living with his mother at the time and he was not ready to carry a burden since he was being carried by his mother.

Sarkodie was a budding musician with the potential to become one of the biggest artists in Ghana and beyond. At the time, however, the future looked uncertain, and his way through the maze of life still appeared too foggy to predict. Success was not guaranteed. He was still living with his mother and was not ready to carry a burden while he was being carried by his mother.”
